WORKS

A small handful of representative design/art works. I work across different media, and sometimes mixed media. I’m interested in both the traditional and the modern, and different levels of realism and abstraction. If there is any consistency across what I attempt, how I see nature, and the inspiration of Japanese aesthetics, seem to be two recurring themes. Always learning and experimenting.

Aside from the below, I have worked on several apps, websites, and various other design projects since around 2000 - examples of which can be provided upon request. I code for the web using HTML, CSS, PHP, and Javascript, often use Python, and occasionally build stuff with hardware platforms like Arduino and Raspberry Pi. I also use common design software such as Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator, etc. Some of my research papers are available via Google Scholar.

Japanese ‘sumi’ ink painting

Paintings 2022-present. Black sumi ink, sometimes with gansai and/or iwaenogu colour materials, on various types of paper (usually gasenshi or mashi). Currently studying under the guidance of Sensei Maki ‘Masui’ Kono in Kyoto.

DIGITAL FABRICATIONS

Works created 2015-present, while based at the IDEEA Lab at the Faculty of Systems Design, Tokyo Metropolitan University. Created with 3D printing and/or various everyday materials, and Arduino or Raspberry Pi circuits.
